We are just at the beginning of a Digital Revolution dominated by high speed and the global exchange of information in the form of a digital signal. The human activities and knowledge are controlled by a binary code "1" and "0".
Based on this simple concept of "1" and "0", switch "on"/"off", "true"/ "false", "open"/ "close", we are reengineering the world and resetting our mind.
Our existence is more and more wrapped up in and controlled by the digital world. I tried to describe/represent/illustrate/show this concept in the installation "The Digital Garden". It represents a metaphor of the flowering of digital technology and, as I explained before, of the new Digital Age. The flowers were made using CDs/DVDs as a stencil. In the '90s these were considered one of the first milestones of this new incoming digital era, at least for my generation.
The installation "The Digital Garden" consists of 4 Styrofoam panels 100x50 cm and one 100x100 cm, colored with spray-paint. It was realized for the first exhibition of the Modern Spray Art Group in the Gallery Treppenhaus in Erlangen (Germany).
The Digital Garden represents just the first step of a wider range Project exploring the state of art, development and consequences of the digitalization of the humanity.
